Like a great cathedral, God has a glorious design for the church – to be a living, vibrant, spiritual community that witnesses to His glory. Like any other building, there are “materials” to this spiritual house, materials that help us see God’s plan and purpose. From the first to the last, these materials give a vision beyond what we could even imagine.

1. Jesus the Living Stone (, )

Jesus was the starting point of God’s design ()

Jesus is the gathering place for His people ()

Sin clouds the ability to assess true spiritual value ()

The cross is the stumbling stone of belief (; )

The world does not assess value in the way God does (; ; )

2. The Church of the Living Stones ()

The people of God get their life from union with Jesus, the cornerstone (; )

The people of God, with Jesus, form the new temple ()

Worship and service is the spiritual sacrifice of God’s people (; )

Jesus will either be the stone that causes you to stumble, or He will be the rock that gives you life (). When you trust in Him you will never be ashamed and never let down ().
